1⁄20Tyrrell P34 Six Wheeler
Tyrrell P34This is the Tamiya 1/20 Tyrrell P34 Six Wheeler 1976 Japan GP (w/photo etched parts), finished with Tamiya TS-15 blue lacquer. This kit was built pretty much out of the box with no after market parts. The Tyrrell P34 caused a sensation within the F1 world when it was unveiled in 1975 - the only 6-wheeled machine in F1 history. It took part in races beginning with the Spanish GP in 1976, and drivers J. Scheckter and P.Depailler went on to drive their cars to a 1-2 finish at the Swedish GP. The car I've built here represents the P34 at the inaugural 1976 Japanese GP held at Fuji Speedway. Driven by Jody Scheckter, his P34 at this race was distinguished by a triangular net guard fitted on the air funnel and had large wingtip panels on the rear wing. Unfortunately, during the race Scheckter had to retire due to engine overheating, but Depailler finished in second place behind Mario Andretti.
