RACV Motor Show - Australia Day 2009

RACV Motor Show - Australia Day, 2009

The King's Domain Gardens in Melbourne was the venue of the RACV's, in conjunction with the Federation of Veteran,Vintage and Classic Vehicle Clubs, 2009 Australia Day (26th of January) Motor Show. A real favourite with families, and in addition to many family activities, the Kings Domain Gardens featured the famous historic vehicle display, with more than 500 veteran, vintage and classic vehicles.

This being the first Australia Day for both my wife and I, we set forth to the Gardens, spending a wonderfully warm day out car looking - and its amazing, I did not get one "they all look the same" comment from Tracey, as even she enjoyed the day.

Thanks for the pics... so cool! Didn't spot any Wolseleys? Chas

Hi Chas, I photographed probably about 90% of the vehicles there - although I may not have uploaded all the photos (I tried not to upload duplicated vehicles). I'm not the greatest at identifying vehicles, but I believe image 89 of 94 on page 2 is a Wolseley. Rudi

Very cool! Speaking of Australia, when are we going to get some dang Aussie cars in plastic? I would love to do a Monaro, Falcon or Torana. Surely with brisk sales of US cars, it is an untapped market for the muscle car fan? C'mon Revell, Tamiya , Hasegawa..anyone?! I am sure many thousands would sell over here in N. America. Now I have to get back to my 1:1 MFP Falcon...and waiting for parts from New Zealand....ugh.

Nice! ...now I've got to ask....there's a fair amount of american muscle there, but quite afew have the wheel on the right....are those the way they got shipped way back when, or conversions? Oh, Nice astons!

From what I understand they are mostly privately imported vehicles that were converted to RHD as per Australian regulations. Hope the same thing doesn't happen over here as i have one Falcon and am saving up for an Aussie Charger. Maybe an interesting conversion for a model kit would be a Mustang with RHD.

Thanks for the photos, I enjoyed seeing the more unusual vehicles.

I love motor shows. Great shots Rudi. Lots of beautiful automobiles at that show. Thanks for sharing. I missed the local vintage car show, this weekend. Had to go visit my wifes parrents. Not a big show, but always nice cars and a great atmosphere. Hope I won't mis it next year.
