This is a campaign to build flying boats.
To be clear, these are boats with wings, not airplanes with floats
think about it

I presume that amphibians would be included? Options include, but are not limited to:
Canso,

Goose,

Albatross,

Be-12

Hmmm... I could be up for this. I've got a JRF and PBY-5a that would qualify (both in 1/48).

Amphibians that are boat hulls with wings and wheels, are included.
As always, there are grey areas, I think this would be included -

(Grumman J2F Duck)

but not this -

(Curtis SC Seahawk)

The distinction being the entire craft designed to float vs. a conventional plane equipped or modified to float.

Great proposal Jonathan, plenty of scope. I have promised myself a year off from Campaigns for 2017 to catch up on some unfinished business so I won't be taking part, but definitely following with great interest.
Here is some inspiration:

Sea Planes and Flying Boats Campaign started in November 2009.

Sea Planes Campaign started in July 2014.

Lots of really nice subject matter and great builds to browse through.

Cheers, D

Just got back from going those campaign threads. Lots of great model building there!

If anyone wants to build an ekranoplan, that would fit within the scope of this campaign.

Hi there

Neat! I'd be up for this one. It'd be the perfect excuse to dig the Sea Adler out of the Stash:

All the best

This will be an interesting campaign.
I won't commit yet as I haven't had any luck completing campaigns recently, but I'll have a think about it.
Could be the perfect excuse to dig out my old Matchbox Dornier though.

I might be in if there is time after my 1/32 F4F-3 Wildcat build is in the books, or even a once per week or so work session. I've got the 1/48 PBY-5A still on the shelf, but I've long given up on building it as I just don't have the display space for it. No real interest any time that I've put it up for sale no matter how low the price is.

I'm thinking of the knew Edward 1/72 The Boat - JRS-1.

So until I actually buy the kit, I'm a almost in but not quite ready to commit as yet.

Hi Joel

I sympathise - I've had one for donkey's years too, waiting for space to even build it in, let alone display the finished beast! I suppose I have finally got the space now, so it's more a question of finding the time to tackle it. I know - excuses, excuses!

Of course, what we want for this campaign is for someone with very deep pockets and a football pitch sized workbench to build HPH Models' amazing 1:32 Catalina!

Hi Paul

If I could afford to buy it, I could probably also afford to extend the house sufficiently to make room to build it!

I'm impressed you've built Airfix's Mossie; I was at Hannants the day they were initially delivered and we customers all gathered 'round to see the grand opening of the first one one out of the packing case. The excitement was soon replaced by a rather sad dose of reality as we saw that it was simply too big for any of us to honestly hope to build in our cramped work spaces.

All the best

Well thats a good turn out for the first three days!

A start date of April 1 would suit me, but we'll have to see what TPTB decide.

This is what I want to build next

With a wing span of 17 inches it will be my biggest model yet.

yup, its a vacuform

I have that kit, but in the FIFT markings (what a surprise!). If I get it dug out, it may be the one I do for this campaign.
