Venelin,
the cowl with the Cat's teeth really came out quite well. Using the kit decals as a pattern is a great idea for those times when there is no way that the decals could conform to the complete shape they were meant to cover.

Venelin,
interesting method of making a paint mask. Did You stick the scanned decal onto the tape for cutting? I have to try this, too! The result looks really good!

Hi Oliver,

Yes, I stick the scanned decal onto the masking tape-in that way it's more stable for cutting.

For such shapes, this method I think, is very good.

Thanks,
Venelin

Thank you very much for the kind comments!

As soon as the nose art is finished, I will proceed with the national insignia

Well, I didn't like the first result, so some corrections I made

-First spraying the black outline":

-masking the line with Micron masking tape 0.5mm:

Now I like it better, although again there's overspray here and there, but this will be fixed (Sorry but never manage to catch the red color right on photos, but in reality is fine ) :

Also with hairspray chipping I painted the black walkways:

I really liked the 1st one, but the 2nd attempt is so much better.

Thanks, proceeding with the national insignia.
Same procedure as with the nose art . Some touch up will be needed at some places, but overall I like the result. Insignia blue is Gunze H-326 (FS15044), which is darker than the decal one, and looks better.

Cheers!

Joel, thanks!

Cutting the masks was easy, positioning them right was tedious though, but the result is rewarding

Sorry for the slow progress, but that nose art is complex to paint
Almost finishing, only have to decide how to represent the bloodlust in the eyes-maybe with fine brush, but I will think about it

Thanks, Oliver!

I decided to make the bloodlines in the eyes by the following way:

-bought a thin red marker (non-permanent) and sharpened it a bit with sandpaper;
-then drawing the lines in the eyes one by one;
-as the one side is finished, immediately sealed with Aqua gloss, so to not destroy the painting;
-then same with the other side;
-you can wipe the drawing with wet cloth, if you not like it, BEFORE sealing, as many times as you wish.

Cheers!

Thanks, Richard!

Well, that's with the nose art, I'm glad how it turned out. Now I have to gloss coat the model and putting the stencils data (not many on the Hellcat ) . Then proceeding with the weathering.

Finishing with the masking and painting, next I will put the stencil data, gloss coat and starting with the weathering. The exhaust and the engine will add later

Can you please detail the weathering technique for exhaust and oil? I am new to building airplanes and I would like to add that detail.

Also if you have any advice on how to do oil stains such as one that has been punctured by a projectile, I would really appreciate it.

You work is very detailed and quite striking. I like it a lot!

Hi, Patrick, thank you for stopping by!

For the exhaust stains I simply mix black paint with tint of red brown and applying with the airbrush. For the oil effects I use AK engine oil. But I will show these effects later in the build

I put only some of the small stencils, because the decals doesn't respond very well to the decal solutions and some silvering occurred.
The wash is mixed from Dark and Light grey oils, the lower part is darker mix. There will be more weathering-oil streaks, exhaust stains etc.
