Have two kits in the pile that fit nicely into this campaign.

This will be my entry using Tamiya's monster 1/48th Lanc and probably Eduard's BF110-G4 unless someone would like to partner me for the campaign.

Paul, I would like to be your wingman - or is it adversary. I was in for the first osprey duel and I am up for this one as well.
I am in with a me 110. It will be a nightfighter, but one of the earlier versions from Eduard in 1/48.
Paul, let me know if you are up for it

Campaign administrator, a quick question: if Paul finishes and I am for some reason do not finish, Paul will still get his ribbon?
In other words if only one party in a two participant duel finishes, the finishing participant will still get the ribbon? Just to make sure

Jesper,

While I FULLY EXPECT YOU TO FINISH , you are quite correct. As long as you two are in a partnership and one of you finishes, the finisher will get the ribbon.

I'm going to try to get a list of enlistees, their proposed builds, and if they're in partnerships added to the opening post and keep it updated. So let us know what you're all up to!

I'm totally up for it although I think wingman would be better! By all accounts the poor Lancasters were often sitting ducks to the nightfighter's 'jazz music'

Paul, you got yourself a wingman I believe my 110 is the early 1942 version without the Schlage music, so you are safe from the Jazz I will post pictures of my kit a little later. It is going to be fun.

Michael, thanks for the quick reply. I fully expect to finish, but just wanted to make sure

Here are the promised pictures of the Eduard Bf 110E. I am doing a NJG 1 Bf 110 in 1942. I really like the red and black shark mouth.

I will probably only start in March, but already looking forward to it

Howdy Y'all
Here's my entry for a Duel Book to be released this spring.

I'll use the Academy 1/72 F4U-1 Corsair and the Hasegawa Ki-84 'Frank'.

Take care,
Don "Lakota"

The story so far, the Italeri 1/32 Mirage IIIC.

The kit instrument panel is the wrong configuration (for the Israeli Mirage anyway.) It also has no instruments, just blank depressed circles. I decided to leave the config alone but added some instruments from an old Monogram instrument sheet:

 photo 20160102_161039_zpstmuzc3z3.jpg

Here's the cockpit built up:

 photo 20160103_094919_zpswyoijzuv.jpg

Nose gear bay:

 photo 20160103_113540_zpsienbrgng.jpg

The landing light in the nose is just a hole with a clear cover. I made a small light bay with a piece of tube and a clear part from the kit. The kit has lights mounted on the nose gear leg which is incorrect for the IIIC so I used one of the lenses here:

 photo 20160103_124822_zpsedrg35um.jpg

And here's the nose gear bay mounted in the lower fuselage:

 photo 20160103_161015_zpsqyrzz9xo.jpg

And the cockpit:

 photo 20160103_160955_zpskon3zg5b.jpg

I was seriously wound up when this one came out, I've always loved the Mirage. Unfortunately, I was working on the Tamiya Mossie when I got hold of this and, frankly, it sort of suffers in comparison. Still, while definitely not as sharply detailed or well engineered as the Mosquito, this is a nice kit and I'm really happy to have it.

Sadly it's back to work tomorrow so progress should slow down substantially.

Nice start, Michael. Detail looks a bit soft, but at least it is there in the first place.

It will be an awesome duel - especially in this scale.

Thanks Jesper!

Making progress on the Mirage, but not without some battles (it IS Italeri, after all).

Here's a main wheel well:

 photo 20160109_163432_zpsxf1kxzxy.jpg

The inner and outer halves aren't glued together yet but, well, read on.

How the intake trunks should look (instructions not very clear):

 photo 20160109_165518_zps9myovukd.jpg

Inside the engine halves:

 photo 20160110_102713_zpsyagcz4n1.jpg

Don't get rid of that small flange at the aft end of the top of the port side of the vertical stabilizer, it's supposed to be there:

 photo 20160110_104252_zps0mw6tpaf.jpg

 photo 20160110_104442_zpsmbehuz7d.jpg

Also don't file flat both hinge arms of the lower speed brakes:

 photo 20160110_130038_zpszqkaqbtu.jpg

 photo 20160110_154309_zpstpwisj4b.jpg

Finally today when I went to add the wings to the fuselage I found they would not fit around the wheel wells. I eventually had to pop the inner wells free from the lower fuselage and glue them directly to the inner wheel wells already installed in the wings:

 photo 20160110_155221_zpscrbbi1am.jpg

This allowed me to install the wings onto the lower fuselage which I had happily NOT glued to the upper fuselage yet:

 photo 20160110_160459_zpsb2shqdta.jpg

Now it all went together:

 photo 20160110_160522_zps1hhhrmae.jpg

Then I had to cut back the tab under the engine bulkhead as it didn't want to fit between the wheel wells. I cut it a bit shorter too:

 photo 20160110_160754_zpsilmqv3yf.jpg

Whew! But it's coming together!

Hi Michael

Thanks again for your post on the Italeri Mirage 111c thread. I thought I'd drop in and take a look at your progress.

First let me say wow. You're moving ahead fast and your kit is coming together nicely. It gives me hope!

That Mig 21 looks tempting too, and I'll be interested to see how the kit compares.

Persevere with the Mirage, I'm sure she'll be worth it in the end.

Happy modelling.

Hey Michael, just to put your mind at ease that you're not alone i've started my Lancaster. I'll put the general progress updates here but i've started a separate build log as i fear this may be a marathon!

Jesper, the challenge is on!

Peter, great to see you get started! You will have a head start as I will be a month or so before I get started.

I will get there, so watch your six

Howdy Y'all
I think I will drop out of this campaign. I took my F4U-1D to the club meeting and left it in the car overnight. My car was broken into & they took the Corsair along with a bunch of other stuff.

It's a great idea for a campaign but I think I'll pass. I'll be watching everyone's builds for this campaign.
Take care,
Don "Lakota"

Half done! The Italeri 1/32 Mirage IIIC in 1967 colors of 101 Tayeset, IAF:

Hopefully soon to appear as a build feature here on AeroScale. Got a couple of other things to finish up before I tackle the MiG-21. But it's only February!

Hi,
Anybody interested to pair-up for this classic clash?

Opting for the 1/32 scale.
