Tamiya 1:48 Spitfire Vb "Lima Challenger"

Decals on. The markings are Eagle Strike and the stencils from Barracudacals. The stencils are ultra thin and sharp, actually being legible unlike some other brands I've used. The decals included two complete sets of stencils so I'm set for the next early Spit I build. Eagle Strike's markings are excellent as well, but not as fine as the Barracudacals.

I am happy with the color match between the ID codes and my custom Sky mix for the band and spinner. They are very close.

I am unsure about the prop stencils. The instructions show to place them in the manner I have, but I have another reference that show them flipped with the blue emblem towards the tip. Does anyone know which is correct?

It's too late to change this build if they are wrong, but I'd like to be sure for the next time I use them.

Paul (Ludwig113): Well done Spit!

Darren: Nice and fast progress.

Paul (PeeJay74): Your Spit comes along greatly. I like the used look of the propeller spin very much!

My little Mk.I has now its cockpit.

Probably not much will be visible after closing the fuselage.

Decals now applied, and at last she has an identity.

Hope these are good enough for everyone.

Still need to base, and have some pilots to go with.

Darren: Your Spitfire is coming along very nice!

Andy: Very nice double spit, you have done there! Looking forward for the presentation with base and pilots!

Linus: Great work with the office! What scale has this one?

With my own build, the fuselage is closed, door cut out. Then the priming and pre-shading was done and a vac-formed canopy was installed.

Now, the lower side has been painted in sky. Next will be the top camo.

Very nice work to all!

I'm actually thinking of planning to start my Pacific Coast Mk.XIV and have a question. Would the seat be the red-brown plastic material (forgot the name of it, dammit) or interior green painted metal by then? Figure this is the place to ask.

Thanks!

Michael, I'm far from being a Spitfire expert (we should ask Edgar above), but I learned that at least the earlier Spits had this red-brown seat made of Bakalit. I think you can't go wrong with it.

The Gallery needs to be logged into separately and it tends to log you out pretty frequently. Try checking in the upper right hand corner to see if you need to login. Same username and password as the general site.

Progress on both Mk.XVI's so far. The high-back version still needs the PE details adding.
