I'm in. A little far-fetched, for sure.
For the oversized fuselage, I've used good old wood. In this case, two small plaques from Michael's Craft Store.

pretty much! I hope you guys don't mind I'm taking the what-if to the edge of possible with my build. Maybe with a strong enough engine and light enough construction it could be airworthy.
Anyway, here I'm impressing window definition into the wood form.

A week later, I'm into painting. I dove into my spares for odds and ends-- my tail wheel= OV-10a nose gear; main gear= modified TBF Avenger; tall rudder= TBF horizontal stabilizer; prop= 1/48 spitfire with tips chopped off; exhaust pipes= Fiat CR42.
The plan is to paint it in a non-camo VIP aircraft scheme.

It's been a while since i posted my progress pics of the Stinson Reliant Wat-If. The premise is - What if the Christmas truce of 1914 held, and peace broke out and WW1 ended then and there. So, here is a 1939 Stinson Reliant 9F in German markings as if the Iron Cross was still used (and Adolf had been accepted into art school in Vienna and stayed out of politics - so no swastika)

More -

I painted red trim on the wing and tail trailing surfaces as might have been done, and were common, in WW1.

The 'B' in the star on the tail stands for Fritz Beckhardt, a real WW1 Jewish ace who remained in the Luftwaffe after WW1 and of course ran into trouble with the Nazi's. He scored 17 victories and was awarded the Iron Cross 1st and 2nd Class, among others. He passed away in 1962 in Weisbaden. (Ironically, Beckhardt's aircraft had a swastika on the fuselage - reverse of that used by the Nazi's - many pilots had the fuselage mark as a sign of good luc)

I hope you like it.

Photos to be added to the GB Gallery later.

I am going for a Luftwaffe 1947 ground attack aircraft. It is one of the models for Dust Tactics war game and comes preassembled. This means I will have to break the parts apart to clean them up and reassemble them again.

I plan to go for a winter camouflage scheme and some colorful markings.

More to follow soon

Some parts have been worked on:-

Top gunner is now the main gun operator,I am filling in the turret so he has no choice!
The tank turret has been scaled down to 1/76 and all extra parts removed except the hatch to aid shell loading.
To help reduce the weight all vents, shell stowage and machine guns have also been removed.
Night fighter radar to be scratch built.

Here's an update:-

We have used an old cockpit to extend the factory assembled cockpit that came today, this is so that we can install shell racks and a captured German night fighter radar set!

Richard, I really like seeing this weird thing come together! Looking forward to see more.

In the mean time I have broken my build apart. (Dust Tactics kits come semi pre assembled) Most parts are cleaned up. Next are some basic painting and then reassembling.

More to follow.

A little progress in my build. Light blue undersides and grey top done. Next is a winter splinter scheme. Pilots are also to follow soon.

More later

After a lot more masking, the base camouflage is on. I am very satisfied with the result so far. I hope I do not screw it up later

Next is some detail painting and digging out some suitable decals from the spares box.

More to follow

Looks good on the Churchill Blenheim,

I have made a little more progress. Details painted and decals added. Next is a coat of varnish to seal the decals and then weathering can begin.

More to follow

Kobus, thanks a lot.

A bit more progress. Two 1947 luftwaffe pilots in the office.

More to follow soon.

EDIT: I have no idea why the photos are showing up so large. Same camera and procedure as usual. Very uncomfortable to see the painting strokes so clear! My painting looks very sloppy this close!

I am calling this one finished. Very satisfied with the end result. Despite the Dust Tactics kits are a strange hybrid of model kits and war gaming kits they build up pretty nicely and looks good when finished.

This is a great campaign and I am looking forward to see what everybody else comes up with. Especially that Churchill Blenheim tank plane

Comments welcome!
