Hi everyone

Just a few pics of my latest build. This is the Academy F-86-30 in 1/48 scale. Completely OOB. Kit decals were used and were almost a total wreck. The kit itself went together great with the usual filling and sanding here and there. All in all this was a fun kit except for the decals and I'm sure that someone with better skills and a better camera could easily build this one into a fine candidate for a photo shoot.

Thanks for lookin' and as usual all tips and pointers greatfully appreciated.

The model looks good, IMHO. What you may want to try with the photos, is saving them with a pic size of about 860 ppi for the width. When you select the width, the program should automatically set the height.

Thanks Don, let me try this again.

Didn't take any photos of the right side as two of the main decals (Academy) fractured into several pieces while sliding them off the contact paper.

Nice looking model and I know what you mean about the decals. That's the worst part of the kit.

Nice bird Herman. I'm a new member and caught your post while looking for ideas for the 1/32 Academy F-86F-30 I just laid out to build. Hope mine turns out as well.

Best wishes,

Wow Hermon great job on a great plane. Looks like you are warming up to NMF quite nicely.

Looks good, Hermon. The decals actually look good. Academy decals are always a problem. They are stiff and almost impossible to get to conform to the surface.

I have recently bought some tough decal setting solution that I hope will nail the problem. I tested it on a scrap piece of Academy decal and it worked well. But beware: it removes the colour from the decal if you try to swipe of excess decal setting solution!

When I do Academy kits, I throw the decals away. I have never been able to get them to work.

Your build looks great.
