Hi all,

I have a bit of a kit stash including modern releases from Eduard, Tamiya, etc.
The paint is 10 years+ old Tamiya, Gunze, & Model Master, etc. Where I'm going is, should I toss the old paint and get new? What Paint?

Looking to start building again (last was a 1/72 PV-1 Ventura in '89) I "love" de-icer boots :-). Have to say that much was learned building that kit. I tend to stick to 1/48th but will build 1/72 Navy Splash & Dash.

I had the same problem when I started the hobby again. I had 10+ year old testors and modelmaster paints. I managed to pry open most of them for inspection, and almost all were no longer usable. I don't know if Tamiya or Gunze paints last longer, so don't get your hopes up.

Open them up and check.

If you have trouble opening jars of paint, turn them upside down and put a little acetone in the lid. It will disolve old dried paint and allow you to open them.
