New Tamiya 1:32 scale Spitfire pictures

Friday, September 25, 2009 - 10:12 AM BST

By JEAN-LUC FORMERY
Tamiya have updated their website with some new informations about their much anticipated 1:32 scale Spitfire kit.

The text below is from the Tamiya site:

The Spitfire protected Britain from the furious attack of the Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain, which was a crucial turning point of the WWII. After the battle, the Spitfire continued to evolve and fought until the end of the war, and one of the many variants was the Mk.IXc, which was equipped with a new Rolls-Royce Merlin 60 series engine for superior performance and successfully retook air superiority from the Luftwaffe. Tamiya's exciting new model is the first ever 1/32 scale full-injection molded assembly kit of this aircraft and features exquisite accuracy, making it a must-have for aircraft modellers around the world.

★The sleek form of the aircraft with slim fuselage and elliptical wings is richly remodeled.
★Large scale enables accurate reproduction of the details of the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine and cockpit.
★Engine cowlings have 0.4mm thickness to allow for a fully-accurate scale presentation of the engine.
★Panel lines and rivet details provide exquisite realism.

OH Crumbs !,Not another post Battle Of Britain version, when are we gonna get a chance to own a MK 1. WITHOUT having to pay a fortune on E-Bay for Hasegawa`s version or settleing for Revell`s version which is SORELY in need of re-tooling. Thanks for nothing Tamiya !! |:( |:( |:(

The Mark IX was the most prolific mark of Spitfire, IIRC. If there is going to be a 1/32 version, I'd rather it be the IX than a I. Either way, the "thanks for nothing" nonsense just sounds petulant. If you don't want a Mark IX, that's just fine - don't buy one.

I`m very happy Tamiya is doing the MkIX in 32nd scale. Not my fancy to do pre-orders, but, when they come I`ll post another installment in the ``What the Postman Brought`thread. The only complaint I have is that the JE-J colors have already been over-done. Although MK392 may have been colorful, I`ll be looking for alternatives.

After all if it wasn't for the Mk.1, there would have been no requirement for a Mk. IX. Plus the Mk.1 just looks so much...

After "fixing" the RoG BF110, I will be THRILLED to build this one OOB. Mark I, Mark IX, I don't really care. I understand those who want a BoB version, but I'm just a duffer with RAF planes and look forward to a build without the need for 2x-3x the kit price in AM #$%&.
